I've been using the Wild Game Innovations camera for a couple weeks now and it's caught lots of small animals sneaking around my place: Fox, Coyotes, and Raccoons so far. I have it set it to only take pictures at night and it seems to start working about an hour before it gets dark, which is OK with me. I have the PIR sensitivity set on 'high', and it detects motion out to at least fifty feet. The IR flash is only good out to about thirty feet, though, so when a critter is too far away, all I get is the reflection of its' eyes. For best results at night, the 'target' needs to be at a distance no closer than 10' and no further than 30' to get a good photo; Too close and the image is washed out - Too far away and the image is very dark.

It should be mentioned that the camera switches to black-and-white at night, but during daylight hours the photos are in living color. There seems to be a 1+/- second delay between detecting motion and the picture actually being taken, so a fast-moving animal can move out of the field of vision if it's close to the camera. I'm sure it's designed that way to minimize 'nuisance' photos. The 'shutter speed' is a little slow at night (maybe 1/15 sec.) so the animal must be standing completely still or the image will be blurred. I don't consider either of these issues to be problems, though; I'm not trying to get National Geographic quality photos, just trying to find out what's out there at night.

Setup was straightforward. Overall, I'm very happy with the unit. I haven't tried the video feature at night and will add an update if and when I do.

Edit: As promised, I set the unit to take video at night and it does really well. The video clips are 30 seconds long. No big game shots out in my orchard, but the unit took 46 video clips of rabbits hopping around, and one flying squirrel flying through the field of vision! Amazingly, the battery charge level still showed 100% after about 100 videos were taken. The Lithium batteries are the way to go.

I purchased an IR5 infrared game cam made by wild game innovationson. The camera worked the first month. I only used the night setting. The second month the camera quit after two months.

I tried the camera this year with no luck on powering the unit up. I called the company for some help and customer service people did not know the product. They only pointed out that the unit was past the warranty. I asked about repair and was told they did not have a facility to repair the cameras. The fix was replacement and with no warranty I was out of luck. I certainly will not purchase any more products from this company and rate them very low in dependability and customer service.
